The meaning of words

We often take words for granted and don’t consider the weight of words. But what are words if they’re not just thoughts expressed in a way that invokes our brains to imagine more? Words are the embodiment of our feelings, emotions, hopes, desires, and dreams. They can construct our deepest fantasies or convey our heart felt condolences. They are abstract and yet, there’s a shit ton of them. Possibly more than we can use in a lifetime.

Granted, we dismiss them in our every day and rarely expand our vocabulary, they serve as the most important thing we should grasp and master. As an example, entice and provoke invoke two different emotions. One is of anticipation and perhaps pleasure, while the other incites violence.

Throw in the fact that our brains are unpredictable as they fire at a rate faster than light in directions we cannot tame, words become more meaningful because it is seemingly random. When you know only the basic words, the randomness becomes dull and can make you seemingly like anyone else. However, throwing a ton of words that no one knows is also perplexing because now your messaging requires a google search. It gets lost. Such is the difficulty of mastery – the pursuit of the control of words in such a way even the simplest of words can be arranged to create something beautiful.

When words aren’t enough

While our brains are random and fate is seemingly inevitable, words still provide a construct in which we write our intentions. But what happens when words aren’t enough? When you just simply cannot contextualize what this means. Perhaps you’re in shock and the words are not coming. No, this is different. This is not the absence of words or inability to create words. The words simply do not exist for what you are trying to convey. Or perhaps, you have not found them. So how do you express yourself? Actions. Words serve to construct and world build while actions serve you when you have no more words left.

Actions are the antithesis of words. It’s primal expression that is left when words cannot express yourself. When you find yourself lacking words, seek to embrace your natural self. Seek what you are trying to express or convey through your physical self. Seek to reconcile the primal self in order to quell your loss for words.

While we can project our thoughts and word continuously escape us, we seek action to alleviate and come to terms with how we really feel.
