Life will never throw anything too crazy at you that you can’t handle. But Life will make you choose between things. As I’ve grown older I’ve noticed these changes in choices over time. Maybe that last drink isn’t as important anymore but more-so the company you’ve held. Maybe that game you used to love isn’t something you need to spend your time on now. While people may try to fight against this, it’s really not a bad thing at all. What we’re all afraid of is the unknown that change brings.
A shift in perspective is sometimes what we need. The more we fight the shift, the less prepared we are overall. At the end of the day, recognize that your perspective is shifting for a reason. While you may have had old joys, you will also find new joys in life. Resistance to change and/or growth makes things more difficult.
Think of it this way, the things you enjoy are a benefit of how far you’ve come. To go further, you may need to temporarily let them go. Only to rediscover past joys later once you’ve grown a bit more. To resist all of this means you’re willing to lose it all. Nothing is permanent and life is a continually shifting and moving abstract.
